Subject Uniform Cleaning and Maintenance Allowance for 1999 for Management/Confidential (M/C) Employees in Bargaining Unit 06.
Purpose To provide instructions to agencies for processing the payment.
Affected Employees M/C employees in Bargaining Unit 06 who meet the eligibility criteria defined below.
Effective Date Immediately
Background Chapter 68 of the Laws of 2000 provides for a Uniform Cleaning and Maintenance Allowance for eligible M/C employees.
Payment Amount and Eligibility Criteria

A Uniform Cleaning and Maintenance Allowance of $550 is payable to full-time, annual salaried employees in M/C Bargaining Unit 06 in one of the eligible titles on November 3, 1999 for Institution agencies and November 10, 1999 for Administration agencies. Eligible departments and titles include:

Department of Correctional Services
     Deputy Superintendent of Security Services
     Correction Captain
Department of Environmental Conservation
     Director - Division of Law Enforcement
     Assistant Director - Law Enforcement
     Supervisor - Forest Ranger Services
     Assistant Supervisor - Forest Ranger Services
     Environmental Conservation Investigator 4
Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation
     Chief of Regional Park Police

Eligible employees who were on sick leave at 50 percent pay on the eligibility date are entitled to the full amount. Permanent employees who were working on a part-time basis on the eligibility date are entitled to a pro-rated allowance equal to the pro-rated amount of their employment.

Eligible employees on an approved leave without pay on the eligibility date are entitled to the payment when they return to the payroll.

The Uniform Cleaning and Maintenance Allowance is not pensionable and is not included in the calculation of overtime.

Agency Payment Processing Instructions To pay eligible employees, enter the following information on the Time Entry panel:
Earning Begin Date: November 3, 1999 (Inst)
November 10, 1999 (Admin)
Earning End Date: November 3, 1999 (Inst)
November 10, 1999 (Admin)
Earn Code: UA7
Amount: Enter $550 or pro-rated amount
Payroll Register and Employees Paycheck The earn code UA7 (Uniform Allowance NU 06) and the amount will be displayed on the payroll register and the employee’s check or advice.
