| Subject | Naming Public and Private Queries in PS Query |
| Purpose |
To provide instructions for naming Public and Private versions of PS queries |
| Affected Employees | Agency staff who can create and modify queries in PS Query. |
| Effective Date |
Immediately |
| Background
|
In PS Query, the same query can be saved as both a Public and Private query. In the previous version of the software, a Public and Private version of a query could be saved with exactly the same name. In version 7.02, Public and Private queries should be saved with different names to ensure the accuracy of the results. |
| Agency Actions |
1.Determine if any Private queries are
saved with exactly the same name as a Public query. No action is necessary
if all of the Private query names are unique (no matching names exist in the
query listing).
2.If a Private and Public query are saved with the same name, rename the Private query. Refer to the attached procedures to rename the queries. The recommended naming convention for private queries is: "agency code_name_priv" 3.Public queries, especially the generic Public query names that begin with 00-, should not be renamed. 4.When a query is created with both Public and Private versions, the queries should be saved with different names. Include your agency code in the name of each saved query. |
