Any active employee or employee on paid leave that has a status of non resident alien on the federal tax data 1 panel will automatically have their state tax data 1 panel changed to reflect their non resident alien status for state tax purposes. |
| Agency Information | Any new employee that is a non resident alien will now have a non resident alien tax selection on both federal tax data 1 panel and state tax data 1 panel. When this status is selected, federal and state taxes will not be automatically deducted until the employee either reaches their treaty dollar limit or the treaty expiration date. The federal tax data 1 panel will still populate the additional withholding of $15.30. The state panel does not need the additional withholding because the non resident alien is instructed to use the standard deduction amount when filing a state tax return. |
