State Agencies Bulletin No. 70

Subject
Reminder: Salary Advances May Be Issued From Petty Cash
Date Issued
January 27, 1999

Although every effort is being made by agencies and OSC to process personal service payments so State employees are paid on time, sometimes a situation occurs where an employee is unintentionally omitted from the payroll and will not get a paycheck. In this event, "salary advances" may be issued from petty cash advance funds pursuant to the instructions contained in Section 4.0310 of the Controls and Special Procedures Manual. These "salary advances" are intended to provide a means for the agency to pay an employee for actual time worked where an undue hardship otherwise would result.
