State Agencies Bulletin No. 490

Subject
Time Entry Page Improvements
Date Issued
June 30, 2004

Purpose

To inform users of the removal of the calendar drop-down boxes and the reformatting/redesign of the Time Entry page.

Effective Date

June 30, 2004

Background

A recent survey of Payroll Users Group participants documented that data entry into the Time Entry page is slowed by the calendar drop-down boxes associated with the Earnings Begin Date and Earnings End Date fields, as well as the current placement of the "Save" button.

Tabbing through the calendar drop-down boxes that are tied to the Earnings Begin Date and Earnings End Date fields increases the time required for entry into the Time Entry page. The "Save" button's lack of visibility when data is being entered also increases the time required to save data entered into the page.

OSC Actions

To reduce the time it takes to enter transactions into the Time Entry page, calendar drop-down boxes have been removed from the Earnings Begin Date and Earnings End Date fields. Additionally, the Time Entry page has been reformatted such that users may now be able to see the "Save" button when data is being entered. (Note: Users' ability to see the "Save" button is dependent upon individual PC settings.)

Agency Actions

The removal of the calendar drop-down boxes changes the tabbing sequence on the Time Entry page. Two fewer tabs are now required to enter data into this page.
