PeopleSoft People Tools Upgrade in PayServ

Purpose

To provide users of PS Query and PayServ with information to assist in using the systems after the upgrade of PeopleSoft Tools software

Background

On July 2, 2012, the New York State Payroll System, PayServ, will begin using the most current release of the PeopleSoft Tools application. The PeopleSoft Tools application allows users to perform certain functions within PayServ such as navigating and searching.

While the functionality of the system remains the same, there are a few display differences a user will notice.

Instead of the word “processing” which is normally flashing in red in the upper right hand corner of your screen, you will now see a spinning symbol that represents processing:

Also, PeopleSoft has made some subtle changes in the colors on the pages. There may be additional minor changes to the look of the system.

OSC Actions

OSC will upgrade the PS Query Database on Friday 6/29/12. PS Query will not be available from 6:00 a.m. Friday 6/29/12 until Monday 7/2/12.

OSC will upgrade PayServ on Saturday 6/30/12 and PayServ will not be available from 6:00 p.m. on Friday 6/29/12 through Monday 7/2/12 at 6:00 a.m.

Agency Actions

The minimum supported Internet Explorer (IE) browser version is IE7. Users that have an earlier version of IE must update their IE browsers to IE7 or higher.

PeopleSoft recommends that users should clear the browser cache on their individual machines before signing into PS Query or PayServ.

To clear browser cache (for Internet Explorer v7 and higher only) :

  1. Close any open instances of your browser.
  2. Open a new instance of your Internet Explorer browser and from the menu, go to Tools > Internet Options.
  3. On the General tab, click the Delete push button.
  4. Click the Delete All push button at the bottom of the dialog box that is displayed.
  5. Click the Yespush button when the following message is displayed: “Are you sure you want to delete all Internet Explorer browsing history?”
  6. Navigate to the PS Query or PayServ site and Sign in.
    • NOTE: If you are using Internet Explorer (IE) browser, the minimum supported version is IE7. If you have an earlier IE version (such as IE6), the navigation to clear the cache is different than described above, and earlier versions of IE may result in unexpected errors in the PS Query and PayServ environment.
