Purpose

To explain processing of the October, 1999 2% Salary Increase

Affected Employees

Active, annual-salaried employees in bargaining units T8, TC, and GA/ Hourly and Contract Pay Adjuncts in bargaining unit AJ

Effective Date

October 1, 1999, Checks dated October 7, 1999

Annual Salaried Employees: Automatic Increase

The increase will automatically be applied to eligible employees who are on step on the 5/1/99 Salary Schedule. The employees will be moved to the corresponding step on the 10/1/99 Schedule. A row will be inserted into the employee's Job Data record with:

Action Pay RT Chg
Reason SAC (Mass Salary Increase)
FTA Amount (the new increased salary)

This row will be inserted after the agency cut off date for period 14C, September 22, 1999.

Annual Salaried Employees: No Automatic Increase

The increase will not be automatically applied if the employee:

  • is off step
  • is in a title on the Salary Schedule that has no steps
  • is in a specialized title

Listings: No Automatic Increase

Two listings will be produced after Period 13C is processed to identify annual salaried employees who will not receive the automatic increase in Period 14C:

  • Employees whose Salary is Off Step
  • Employees Receiving No Automatic Increase (no salary steps or in specialized title)

Agency Procedures:

  • If Salary is Off Step: Request a Pay Change/Reason of Cor Sal (CSL) on the Job Action Request Panel and enter the appropriate salary from the 5/1/99 Salary Schedule (OSC will then apply automatic increase in Period 14C).

Exception: If salary is off step because the employee is receiving additional salary due to the Recruitment Retention Initiative, Request a Pay Change, Reason of Cor Fy Sal (CFS) and enter the appropriate 10/1/99 salary.

  • If No Automatic Increase: Request a Pay Change/Reason of Cor Fy Sal (CFS) on the Job Action Request Panel and enter the appropriate salary effective 10/1/99.

Listings: After Automatic Increase in Period 14C

Two listings will be produced after the automatic increase is processed in Period 14C:

  • Employees whose Salary is Off Step
  • Employees who received the automatic increase

Agency Procedures: Annual Salaried Employees Returning after 10/1/99

The agency must request a Pay Change, Reason of Sal Incr (SIC) on the Job Action Request Panel.

Adjuncts on Contract Pay

Refer to memorandum, dated July 22, 1999, for the calculation of the Fall '99 contract.

Adjuncts Whose Pay Basis Code is HRY

Adjunct employees paid on an hourly basis will not be increased automatically. The agency must request a Pay Change, Reason of Chg Rate (CRT) on the Job Action Request Panel effective 10/1/99.

Agencies must break down the earnings when entering the Earn Code RGH in the Time Entry Panel. The breakdown must be as follows:

  • Row 1 - Enter the Earn Code RGH and the dates plus hours worked prior to October 1, 1999.
  • Row 2 - Enter the Earn Code RGH and the dates plus hours worked on or after October 1, 1999.
