Prepaid Legal Service Benefit for CUNY Employees

Purpose

To explain processing of the Prepaid Legal Service Benefit for tax purposes for the 2006 calendar year.

Affected Employees

Employees in the bargaining units listed below who receive a paycheck or direct deposit advice statement dated November 22, 2006 and who did not have the benefit applied in October 2006.

Effective Date(s)

Paychecks dated December 7, 2006.

OSC Actions

OSC will automatically apply the Prepaid Legal Service Benefit for the 2006 calendar year.  Listed below are the union, bargaining units, the value of the Prepaid Legal Benefit and the Earnings Codes:

Note: For employees represented by DC 37, this benefit will be applied to all members in the specified bargaining unit whose address type is “HOME” or the “HOME” address is blank and (State) is equal to NY.

Agency Actions

Notify affected employees.

Control-D Report

Control-D report NPAY771 (Time Entry Payment Report) will list all employees for whom the Prepaid Legal Service Benefit was processed.

Payroll Register and Employee's Paycheck/Advice

The applicable earnings code and the value will be displayed on the payroll register and the employee’s paycheck stub or direct deposit advice statement.
