Salary and Other Increases for Employees Represented by the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA)

Purpose

To provide agencies with information for the manual processing of the general salary increase and other miscellaneous earnings.

Affected Employees

Annual and hourly employees in Bargaining Unit TE with a title of Staff Nurse, Staff Nurse (hourly) or Nurse Practitioner.

Background

Pursuant to the 2003-2007 Memorandum of Agreement  between the City University of New York (CUNY) and NYSNA which calls for General Salary and other increases effective August 15, 2007.  The new rates and other information are contained in a memorandum from Carmelo Batista, Jr. dated June 19, 2007.

Effective Date

Salary and shift differential increases may be processed for all eligible salaried and hourly employees for Pay Period 11C, paychecks dated 8/30/07.

Contract Provisions

General Salary Increases
The Memorandum of Agreement calls for a 1% General Salary Increase effective 8/15/07 for employees with a title of Staff Nurse, Staff Nurse (hourly) or Nurse Practitioner.

Salary increases are to be paid to all eligible Annual and HRY employees who are Active or on a Paid or Unpaid Leave.

HRY Rate and Shift Differential
The Memorandum of Agreement calls for the following HRY Rate and Shift Differential increases:

Staff Nurse – Hourly

Effective Date

8/15/07

Day

$26.20

Evening

$29.27

Night

$30.06

Educational Differential
The Educational Differential continues to be paid as follows using the Additional Pay earn code AC1:

  • Baccalaureate - $300 per annum
  • Master’s Degree – an additional $300 per annum

Health Specialty Differential and Uniform Allowance rates that increase effective 8/15/07 will be paid according to previously scheduled annual or semi-annual pay dates.

Agency Actions

General Salary Increases

Agencies must submit General Salary Increases for all eligible employees in Pay Period 11C, paychecks dated 8/30/07, using the following instructions:

Staff Nurse and Nurse Practitioner – Annual

  • Agencies must submit a Job Request effective 8/15/07 using the action/reason codes Pay Rt Chg/CFS (Cor Fy Sal).  For all subsequent rows, agencies must submit a Job Request using the action/reason codes Pay Rt Chg/CSL (Correct Salary).

Staff Nurse – Hourly

  • Agencies must submit a Job Request effective 8/15/07 using the action/reason codes Pay Rt Chg/CRT (Change Rate).  For all subsequent rows, the same action/reason codes must be used.
