Establishment of New Payroll Bargaining Unit and Benefit Program for Hourly Continuing Education Teachers Represented by the Professional Staff Congress

Continuing Education Teachers in the following Job Codes:

Background

CUNY has determined that Continuing Education Teachers (CET) who are in Job Codes 016038 and 016039 and paid on an hourly basis are eligible for the Dependent Care Assistance Program (Deduction Code 443) benefit.  Continuing Ed Teachers paid as Adjuncts are not eligible for this benefit.  Only CETs paid as hourly employees have been deemed eligible for the benefit.  CETs who are paid on an hourly basis will be moved to a new Bargaining Unit and Benefit Program.

OSC Actions

Continuing Ed Teachers currently are in Bargaining Unit AJ and Benefit Program AJC.

To process the new deduction for the hourly CETs, OSC will create the following data:

• Bargaining Unit - CE (Cont Ed)
  • Union Code for Bargaining Unit CE will be AJC.
  • Union Control Code will be PSC.
• Benefit Program CET (Cont Ed) will include Deduction Code 443 (Dependent Care CUNY)
  • Union Deduction Codes 467 - Dues and 468 - Agency Shop, and benefits will remain unchanged.

Update to Positions

On July 3, 2008, OSC will insert a row on the Position Data page effective 7/3/08 with the Reason of CBU (Change Bargaining Unit) to update all active hourly positions where the Job Code is 016038 or 016039.  The following new data will be added on the Information tab; all other data will remain the same.

• Bargaining Unit  - CE (Cont Ed)

All subsequent rows will be updated with the above information.

Updates to Job Data

On July 3, 2008, OSC will insert a row on the Job Data page effective 7/3/08 with the Action/Reason code of POS/CBU (Position Change/Change Bargaining Unit) to update all of the employees in the effected Job Codes who are Active, on a Leave without Pay or on a Paid Leave.  The following new data will be added on the Information tab; all other data will remain the same.

• Bargaining Unit  - CE (Cont Ed)

All subsequent rows will be updated with the above information

Update to Benefit Participation Page

A row will be added to the Benefit Participation page effective 7/3/08 with the new Benefit Program of CET (Cont Ed).
