| Subject | Education Payment for Employees Represented by the Police Benevolent Association (PBA) and the NYS Police Investigator Association (NYSPIA). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Purpose | To notify the Division of State Police of the procedure for processing the Education Payment. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Affected Employees | Troopers in Bargaining Unit 07, Commissioned/Non-Commissioned Officers in Bargaining Unit 17, Investigators and Senior Investigators in Bargaining Unit 62. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Effective Date | Payments may be made in the employee's regular check for period 5L/6C dated 6/19/02 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Contact Provisions and Eligibility Criteria |
Chapters 8, 9, & 10 of the Laws of
2001, provides for an annual lump sum Education Payment for members in
Bargaining Units 07, 17, and 62 who meet the following eligibility criteria:
For Bargaining Units 07 and 62, the
Education Payment is included in the calculation of overtime. |

| Agency Processing Instructions |
For Bargaining Units 07 and 62, the
payments must be processed through the Additional Pay panel using the following
information:
For Bargaining Unit 17,
the payment must be processed through the Time Entry panel as follows:

| Payroll Register and Employee's Check | The earn code EPA or EDP will be displayed on the payroll register. The earn code descriptions, Education Pymt Inv/Trooper or Education Payment BU 17 will appear on the employee's check stub or direct deposit advice. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
