Subject Permanent Rank Sergeant Payment for Employees Represented by the NYS Police Investigator Association (NYSPIA)
Purpose To notify the Division of State Police of the procedure for processing the 2002-2003 payment.
Affected Employees Investigators and Senior Investigators in Bargaining Unit 62.
Payment Date Payments are to be made in the employee's regular check for pay period 5L/6C dated June 19, 2002.
Contract Provision and Eligibility Criteria Chapter 8 of the Laws of 2001 provides for a $200 lump sum payment to each member holding the rank of Sergeant.
Agency Processing Instructions The $200 lump sum payment is processed through the Time Entry Panel as follows:

Eligible Employees on leave without pay are eligible for payment upon their return to the payroll.

The lump sum payment is not included in the calculation of overtime, but is included as salary for retirement purposes.

Payroll Register and Employee's Check/Advice The earn code SGB will be displayed on the payroll register. The earnings description Sergeant Backup will appear on the employee's check stub or direct deposit advice.
