Executive Mansion Trust

Internal Controls Over Financial Operations

The Executive Mansion, located in Albany, has been the home of 29 New York governors since 1875. The Executive Mansion Trust was created by the State Legislature in 1993 to accept private donations for the preservation, improvement and promotion of the Executive Mansion as a historical and cultural resource. We intended to audit the Trust’s internal controls over its financial operations, but found that the statutory members of the Trust had never convened to discuss Trust business and no donations had ever been received. We recommended that the Trust formally be dissolved.
