Internal Controls Over Selected Financial Management Practices

The Nassau County Interim Finance Authority is a public benefit corporation that was created in 2000 to oversee and make recommendations to improve Nassau County’s finances. The Authority is authorized to issue bonds and notes for various purposes, including the restructuring of a portion of the County’s outstanding debt. We examined the adequacy of the Authority’s internal controls over its expenditures. We found that the controls were generally adequate, but noted that certain improvements needed to be made in the Authority’s procurement practices.
