Purpose of Audit

The purpose of our audit was to examine the District’s claims auditing process for the period July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015.

Background

The Westhampton Beach Union Free School District is located in the Town of Southampton, Suffolk County. The District, which operates three schools with approximately 1,800 students, is governed by an elected seven-member Board of Education. Budgeted appropriations for the 2014-15 fiscal year were approximately $54.7 million.

Key Findings

  • District officials have established adequate controls over the claims processing function which ensure that claims are audited in a timely manner, properly supported and for legitimate District purposes.
