Purpose of Review

The purpose of our review was to assess the Town's progress, as of December 2011 in implementing our recommendations in the audit report released in December 2010.

Background

The Town of Blooming Grove is located in Orange County and has a population of approximately 17,350. The Town includes the Villages of Washingtonville and South Blooming Grove. The Town Board comprises four elected council members and an elected Town Supervisor. For the fiscal year ended December 31, 2009, the Town reported expenditures of approximately $5.4 million for the general fund (general town-wide and general outside-village), $250,109 for the water fund, and $260,672 for the sewer fund.

Results of Review

  • Based on our limited procedures, it appears that the Town has made some progress in implementing our recommendations. Of the 19 audit recommendations, six recommendations were implemented, eight recommendations were partially implemented and five recommendations were not implemented.
