Purpose of Review
The purpose of our review was to assess the Town’s progress, as of June 2012, in implementing our recommendations in the audit report released in May 2009.
The Town of Cairo (Town) is located in Greene County. The Town Board is the legislative body responsible for managing Town operations, including establishing internal controls over financial operations and for maintaining sound financial condition. The Town’s budgeted appropriations for the 2008 fiscal year were approximately $4.3 million.
Results of Review
- Based on our limited procedures, it appears that the Town has made progress in implementing our recommendations. Of the 20 audit recommendations, 11 were implemented, five were partially implemented, and four were not implemented.
