Purpose of Review

The purpose of our review was to assess the Town's progress, as of October, 2011, in implementing our two recommendations in our audit report released in 2007. This audit report identified that the Supervisor and a Board member had prohibited interests in contracts.

Background

The Town of Clifton (Town) is located in St. Lawrence County and has a population of 791 according to the 2000 Federal Census. The Town is governed by the Town Board, which comprises five elected members. Reported expenditures for 2005 were about $1.3 million.

Results of Review

  • Based on our limited follow up procedures, it appears that the Town has not implemented our two recommendations.
