Required Reporting: Annual Report Filing Deadlines

Legislation sponsored by the State Comptroller (OSC) and enacted during 2006 changed the deadline for certain local governments to file their annual financial report (AUD) with our Office. Please select your type of local government from the list below to see your filing deadline.

All cities and counties, and those towns or villages with populations of 20,000 or more according to the 2010 federal census, now have up to 120 days after the close of their fiscal year to file their AUD. This is a firm deadline and there is no flexibility given to OSC to extend the filing date beyond this period.

Towns and villages with populations between 5,000 and 19,999 according to the 2010 federal census now have up to 90 days after the close of their fiscal year to file their AUD. An additional 30 day filing extension may be granted by OSC if a written request is received from the chief fiscal officer before the original 90 day filing period expires.

Towns and villages with populations below 5,000 according to the 2010 federal census have up to 60 days after the close of their fiscal year to file their AUD. An additional 60 day filing extension may be granted by OSC if a written request is received from the chief fiscal officer before the original 60 day filing period expires.

Extension requests may be faxed to the Data Management Unit at (518) 486-3146 or scanned and emailed to AFRFILE@osc.state.ny.us

Please note that fire districts also have up to 60 days after the close of their fiscal year to file their AUD. An additional 60 day filing extension may be granted by OSC if a written request is received from the chief fiscal officer before the original 60 day filing period expires.
