THOMAS P. DiNAPOLI

The Academy for New York State's Local Officials

Local Government Leadership Institute

Comptroller DiNapoli with group from Hofstra University

The Office of the State Comptroller created the Local Government Leadership Institute in partnership with Hofstra University and Cornell University’s Community and Regional Development Institute (CaRDI) in 2009. The Institute aims to bring together officials across various classes of local government to increase dialogue and regional collaboration on common concerns.

The training and instruction received by Institute participants enhances leadership skills and networking opportunities at the local government level and serves as a foundation for a more efficient State government.

While OSC's Academy for New York State's Local Officials aims to train individuals how to do specific tasks – budgeting, accounting, ethics, internal controls, etc. – The Local Government Leadership Institute gives municipal CEOs and other municipal policymakers an opportunity to come together to network, discuss a general topic currently affecting local governments and promote possible collaborative approaches for dealing with respective challenges.

The next Institute’s topic is Cybersecurity. It will take place in Albany, NY on June 22, 2016. Visit the registration page for more details.
