Affordable Housing Program

The Common Retirement Fund has developed programs to support the rehabilitation and development of affordable housing in New York State. The Fund purchases first mortgage commercial loans pursuant to agreements with several financial institutions that provide construction financing to such commercial properties. Since the inception of the program, the Fund has purchased more than $334.7 million in these permanent mortgages, thereby providing stable, long-term financing for over 9,862 affordable units in New York State.
