Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO)
Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) provides superior educational and career programs to students and young professionals from underrepresented communities to maximize their opportunities for college and career success. SEO's programs include its renowned Career Program, which for three decades has been the leading source of diverse talent for analyst programs at Wall Street's top investment banks. SEO's Career Program now has more than 6,000 alumni, many with roles in the alternative investments industry. In 2009, SEO created the Alternative Investments Fellowship Program (AIFP) to further advance diversity in the alternative investments sector. The AIFP is an educational program for young professionals from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in the sector. The AIFP combines workshops, training and mentoring to strengthen Fellows as candidates for positions in private equity and other alternative investments, typically at the conclusion of a two-year investment banking analyst program. Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and TPG Capital are the inaugural partners in this new initiative, which saw the entire first cohort of eligible Fellows receive offers from private equity firms. In April 2009, SEO sponsored its first Annual Alternative Investments Conference, bringing together young professionals of color and leading alternative firms and investors in an educational and networking forum. SEO's second conference will take place this spring. Most recently, Audax Group joined with SEO to identify talent for Audax's undergraduate summer analyst program, providing another pathway for talented individuals to gain access to the industry.
