The New York State Common Retirement Fund's Risk Management Program was created to help protect and grow Fund assets. The program strives to improve investment excellence, enable multi-dimensional risk analysis and mitigation, foster greater transparency, identify and mitigate loss potential, and utilize critical risk intelligence in the increasingly competitive investment environment.
The Risk Management Program will improve the quality of CRF's investment decisions by fostering a Fund-wide culture and practice of risk management. This formalized program, based on an integrated risk management process, looks at the many layers and facets of risk and implements appropriate risk detection and mitigation activities as a perpetual, ongoing endeavor. As designed, CRF's risk management program will evolve to be a stronger and more effective program over time as investment officers, investment staff, and organizational stakeholders develop a better understanding of intended and unintended risks in the Common Retirement Fund.
