DiNapoli’s Office Completes School Audits
New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli today announced his office completed audits of the: North Babylon Union Free School District – Financial Condition and Internal Controls – Audit Follow Up (Suffolk County); Monroe-Woodbury Central School District - Budget Review (Orange County); and Schenectady City School District – Budget Review.
“My office’s audits of school districts and BOCES help schools improve their financial management practices,” DiNapoli said. “These audits are tools for schools to make sure proper policies and procedures are in place to protect taxpayer dollars and provide students with the best possible education.”

Of the 14 audit recommendations, three recommendations were fully implemented, eight recommendations were partially implemented and three recommendations were not implemented. To view the audit report, follow this link: http://osc.state.ny.us/localgov/audits/schools/2010/northbabylonfollowup.pdf
Monroe-Woodbury Central School District – Budget Review
Except where noted, DiNapoli’s auditors found the significant revenue and expenditure projections in the proposed budget to be reasonable. However, district officials over-budgeted employee benefit appropriations by approximately $2.6 million to maintain and accumulate the fund balance.
