DiNapoli Names Thomas Nitido Deputy Comptroller for Retirement
State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli today announced he named Thomas Nitido as Deputy Comptroller for the New York State and Local Retirement System. Previously, Nitido served as Deputy Comptroller for Budget & Policy Analysis.
“Tom Nitido has a wealth of experience that uniquely qualifies him to run one of the largest retirement systems in the country,” DiNapoli said. “His previous experience, work ethic and core values make him the ideal individual to manage the day-to-day operations of a system serving more than 1 million employees, pensioners and beneficiaries.”
Nitido joined the Comptroller’s Office as Assistant Comptroller of the Retirement Compliance Unit for the New York State and Local Retirement System in 2008. He was later promoted to Deputy Comptroller for Budget & Policy Analysis.
Before joining DiNapoli’s office, Nitido served as Albany City Comptroller after being elected to the post in 2001 and 2005. Prior to that, he worked for the New York State Assembly Committee on Health for 16 years, last serving as its Executive Director. He also served on the Albany Common Council for eight years.
Nitido graduated from Union College and received a master’s degree from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and Syracuse University.
His salary is $156,000.
