DiNapoli Appoints Murray to Lead
Office's Retirement Services Division
State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli today announced he has named Kevin Murray as deputy comptroller in charge of the Retirement Services Division, where he will oversee the nation’s second largest retirement system.
Murray brings a comprehensive understanding of retiree issues to the division having most recently served as the Executive Director of the Retired Public Employees Association (RPEA).
“The retirement system has more than one million members and retirees,” DiNapoli said. “Kevin Murray brings more than 25 years in public service to help ensure the system continues to place customer service at its core. With his experience at RPEA, Kevin is uniquely suited to understand how to best meet the needs of our growing retiree population.”
Murray began his public service career in 1970 in the State Division of the Budget (DOB) where he advanced to the position of assistant chief budget examiner. He left DOB in 1984 to become the divisional vice president of Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield where he remained for three years. He returned to state government in 1987 as executive deputy commissioner for tax policy in the Department of Taxation and Finance.
Murray has been RPEA’s Executive Director since 2002.
Murray will start work at the State Comptroller’s office on August 13. His salary will be $158,093.
