Statement on Thruway on Toll Increase

"The Thruway toll hike slated to take effect Jan. 3 is the last thing New Yorkers need now and will only make a tough economy even harder for many families and businesses. In January 2008, my office released an audit that laid out opportunities for cost-savings and efficiencies at the Thruway Authority, but we have yet to see any long-term effort to cut costs. The toll hikes we’ve seen over the past two years might have been avoided with some better fiscal sense."
