DiNapoli’s Office Completes School
Audit Follow-Up Reviews
New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli today announced his office completed school audit follow-up reviews of East Syracuse-Minoa Central School District and Germantown Central School District.
“My office’s audits of school districts and BOCES help schools improve their financial management practices,” DiNapoli said. “These audits are tools for schools to make sure proper policies and procedures are in place to protect taxpayer dollars and provide students with the best possible education.”
East Syracuse-Minoa CSD – Internal Controls Over Selected Financial Operations – Audit Follow Up (Madison and Onondaga counties)
Of the ten audit recommendations, the district fully implemented seven recommendations, partially implemented two recommendations and did not implement one recommendation.
Germantown CSD - Internal Controls Over Purchasing and Capital Assets – Audit Follow Up (Columbia County)
Of the five audit recommendations included in the report, the district implemented one recommendation and did not implement four recommendations.

School District Accountability
In order to improve accountability of the state’s schools, DiNapoli’s office audits of all 733 of New York’s school districts and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services. Auditors from DiNapoli’s office are returning to some of these school districts to conduct follow-up reviews to determine if the schools implemented his auditors’ recommendations.
