State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli Statement
on Governor’s 21-Day State Budget Amendments

“The governor updated his proposed budget today to address this year’s growing budget gap. With the state nearing the end of the fiscal year, the options are few and painful.

“To his credit the governor does not propose deficit financing to make up the gap, which could have endangered the state’s credit rating. But these proposals push out the state’s problems to another day. These are cosmetic fixes. We’re a long way from the reforms New York needs and taxpayers deserve.”
