Hundreds of State Pension Checks Located in Central NY
Re-issue Requests for Long Island Drop
The Postal Service informed New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli’s office that hundreds of pension checks for retirees in the central New York area were found on Saturday. The Postal Service expects to deliver those checks today and callers to the New York State Comptroller’s office have reported receiving checks this afternoon.
In addition, hundreds of reports of delivered checks to retirees on Long Island came into the New York State and Retirement System over the weekend and continued today, while re-issue requests for this area significantly dropped.
As of the end of the day on Friday, about 28,000 pension checks had been cashed out of 60,000 checks mailed. DiNapoli’s office received a total of 4,400 re-issue requests to date. Approximately 1,100 such checks were mailed through Monday. DiNapoli’s office plans to mail all re-issued checks as quickly as possible but no later than the end of the week.
