DiNapoli Names Dixon Deputy Comptroller
State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli announced today that he has named Angela Dixon as deputy comptroller for human resources and administration. Dixon will be replacing Jacquelyn Hawkins, who has served the Comptroller’s office for twelve years.
Hawkins was appointed to deputy comptroller for human resources and administration in May 2007, after having served as assistant comptroller for human resources for over ten years. In 2003, she was the recipient of the African American Leader of Excellence in State Service Award. Prior to the Comptroller’s office, Hawkins held positions with the Department of Environmental Conservation, Executive Chamber, Department of Civil Service and the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.
“Throughout her 30 plus years in State service, Jacquelyn has developed an outstanding record of excellence,” DiNapoli said. “Her valuable contributions to public sector human resources management make her difficult to replace.”
As deputy comptroller for human resources and administration, Dixon will be responsible for overseeing the human resources, financial and administrative functions of the Comptroller’s office. Prior to her promotion, Dixon was an assistant deputy comptroller for administration. She has been with the Comptroller’s office since 2007.
“Angela has held various positions in state government, giving her a thorough understanding of the complexities of how large state agencies operate,” DiNapoli said. “I have immense confidence in her abilities as she continues her impressive government career at the Comptroller’s office."
Dixon had held other administrative management positions with other state and local agencies including the Executive Chamber, the State Department of Labor and the City of Albany. Complementing her government services, Dixon was employed with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. A graduate of the University at Albany, Dixon holds a Masters of Business Administration. Her salary is $162,836.
