DiNapoli: 2,778 New State Contracts in October

The state entered into 2,778 new contracts in October 2008, totaling approximately $1.039 billion, according to State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. Details regarding these contracts can be found in the Open Book New York Web site (www.openbooknewyork.com).

“We are in tough fiscal times. State agencies must figure out how to do more with less and be as efficient as possible,” State Comptroller P. DiNapoli said. “Open Book New York allows state agencies and taxpayers see who the state is doing business with and for how much. It is an important tool in making sure that government is spending tax dollars wisely.”

The largest contracts approved in October include (for specific questions on these contracts, contact the state agency directly):

  • $200,000,000 contract between the Office of General Services (OGS) and the Hewlett Packard Corporation for enterprise systems. This contract was negotiated by OGS and can be used by state agencies and other authorized users.
  • $50,942,623 contract between OGS and the Hess Corporations for natural gas. This contract was negotiated by OGS and can be used by state agencies and other authorized users.
  • $43,500,000 contract between the Department of Health and Kingston Hospital for Phase IV of the Berger Commission implementation.
  • $33,096,975 contract between OGS and National Fuel Resources, Inc. for natural gas. This contract was negotiated by OGS and can be used by state agencies and other authorized users.
  • $31,186,435 contract between OGS and Colonial Energy Inc. for natural gas. This contract was negotiated by OGS and can be used by state agencies and other authorized users.
