State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli Statement
on the Tragedy in Mumbai
As New Yorkers, we are all too familiar with the pain and sadness brought on by terrorism. It’s particularly tragic when good people of peace like Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and Rivka Holtzberg are victims of terrorism’s evil. Their lives were dedicated to sharing knowledge and fostering understanding.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families and the families of all the victims of the acts of terror in Mumbai. But our sadness should only serve to strengthen our resolve to bring an end to terrorism and hatred.
The faith and courage of the Americans senselessly slaughtered at the Nariman House are a reminder to every American that we share a commitment to peace and freedom. Thugs with weapons cannot shake that commitment and hatred and evil cannot overcome the goodness of Rabbi Holtzberg and Rivka Holtzberg.
