Hevesi Statement On Port Authority Deal With New York City New York State Comptroller Alan G. Hevesi issued the following statement today in response to the announcement that the Port Authority and the City of New York reached a new agreement on the lease for the airports: "I congratulate Governor Pataki and Mayor Bloomberg for this excellent deal, which is good for the City, good for the airports and therefore good for the entire State. This deal provides the City with a reasonable rent for the airports and the World Trade Center site and with a say in future development of the airports. This agreement along with an improved tax revenue outlook relieves a substantial amount of the pressure on the City's budget resulting from the dispute over the MAC deal. This is government at its best."
