Athletic Fields Included in State Comptroller's Audit of “Fill-for-Fields” Deals

Valhalla School District

• Middle School / High School artificial turf competition field
  300 Columbus Avenue, Valhalla, NY 10595
  In use, artificial turf lease arranged through Goodwill Sports Association, in violation of State law. Total cost of lease: $278,943.
• Kensico School grass baseball field
  320 Columbus Avenue, Valhalla, NY 10595
  Currently in use.

Greenburgh #7 School District

• Woodlands High School artificial turf football field
  475 W. Hartsdale Avenue, Hartsdale, NY 10530
  Had been in use, with artificial turf lease arranged through Goodwill Sports Association. Last month, s chool administrators closed field and their legal representatives have advised leasing company that the leasing agreement was in violation of State law and was therefore terminated. Total cost of lease: $524,524.
• Woodlands High School grass upper field
  475 W. Hartsdale Avenue, Hartsdale, NY 10530
  Currently not in use. Remediation work plan approved by DEC with an anticipated completion date Summer, 2006, is contingent upon appropriation of funds in the district's 2006-2007 budget. Total estimated cost of remediation: Unknown.

Eastchester School District Total remediation costs: $478,000

• Eastchester Middle School / High School grass football field
  2 Stewart Place, Eastchester, NY 10709
  Environmental remediation was completed and field is currently in use.
• Eastchester Middle School / High School artificial turf soccer field
  2 Stewart Place, Eastchester, NY 10709
  Currently in use. Artificial turf was competitively bid, but lease arranged through Goodwill Sports Association is in violation of State law. Total cost of lease: $482,130.
• Anne M. Hutchinson Elementary School grass field
  60 Mill Road, Eastchester, NY 10709
  Currently in use. District plans additional remediation work on field in fall, 2005.
• Greenvale Elementary School grass field (adjacent to Haindl Recreation Park grass field)
  Park Drive at Maple Street, Scarsdale, NY 10583
  Currently in use.

Town of Eastchester Total estimated costs of remediation: $2 million

Haindl Recreation Park grass field (adjacent to Greenvale Elementary School grass field)
Resigno Drive near Burnham Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583
Currently not in use. Remediation plan has been approved by DEC.
