Comptroller DiNapoli Releases School Audit

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli today announced his office completed audits of the Ark Community Charter School.

"My office's audits of school districts, charter schools and BOCES help schools improve their financial management practices," DiNapoli said. "These audits are tools for schools to make sure proper policies and procedures are in place to protect taxpayer dollars and provide students with the best possible education."

Auditors found weaknesses in the internal controls over IT. The board did not develop a disaster recovery plan to minimize disruption of operations in the event of a catastrophic event. In addition, the board has not adopted policies and procedures for remote access and server room security. As a result, the school's computer data is subject to an increased risk of damage and loss.
