New York State and Local Retirement System

A Plan To Help Each Other

At the New York State & Local Retirement System (NYSLRS), we have two primary goals: provide our members with the information they need to make the best choices about the benefits available to them, and provide exceptional customer service while administering those benefits. As participating employers, you help us deliver information to your employees who are Retirement System members and report information to us that we need to determine those employees’ benefits. You are critical to our success in achieving our goals.

We understand the burden this can sometimes place on you. That’s why we’ve been working on ways to strengthen our partnership and make the flow of information between us as useful, accurate, timely and painless as possible.

Our first steps down this path were our Internet Reporting Programs such as Retirement Internet Reporting (RIR), Retirement Adjustment Reporting (RAR), and Retiring Employees Acknowledgement Program (REAP). During the past year, we’ve continued down this path by adding new services to our automated information line and to our website. Over the next year, we will be developing training and orientation tools to keep you and your employees well informed and up-to-date on a variety of issues. We’ll be involving you in our decision-making process along the way.

All of these initiatives are designed to build a better partnership with you, one that will best serve our common interests. If you have any suggestions on how to improve our partnership, don’t hesitate to contact us.
