Tier 6 Benefit Information
Legislation changing retirement benefits provided by the New York State and Local Retirement System was signed into law on March 16, 2012 (Chapter 18, Laws of 2012).
Members who joined the Employees’ Retirement System (ERS) or the Police and Fire Retirement System (PFRS) on or after April 1, 2012 are affected by these changes and are in Tier 6.
Retirement System members who joined before April 1, 2012 are not affected by this legislation.
You can register an employee by:
- Fax at 518-486-4382 (the date of membership will be the day the fax is received, provided the valid, hard copy application is subsequently received by mail).
- Phone at 518-474-3081 for ERS members only (the date of membership will be the day the telephone registration is received, provided the valid, hard copy application is subsequently received by mail).
If you register by phone or fax, you still need to mail the valid, hard copy application to us at the address below to complete the registration process. The application does not need to be notarized.
