2012 Retirement Pension Payment Calendar
The 2012 Retirement Pension Payment Calendar is now available online. Your retirement benefit checks will be mailed on the second-to-last business day of each month for that month, while those enrolled in our Direct Deposit Program have access to their retirement benefits on the last business day of the month.
Federal 1099-R Tax Forms
Federal 1099-R tax forms will be mailed by January 31, 2012. If you’ve recently moved, be sure to update your address with the Retirement System, to ensure you receive your form.
Retiree Annual Statements Coming Soon
We will begin mailing Retiree Annual Statements (RAS) in late-February. The mailing will take a few weeks to complete, so you should expect to receive your statement in March. Our online RAS frequently asked questions can help you understand the data in your RAS.
Pension Payment Update for Recent Retirees
The historic number of retirement applications filed over the past year has lengthened the amount of time it takes us to process benefits. As a result, it is likely you will receive eight to ten advance payments before your pension benefit is finalized. Once we finalize your benefit, you will receive the full balance due, retroactive to your date of retirement.
If health insurance premiums will be deducted from your regular pension payments, please contact your health insurance provider to arrange payment until your benefit has been finalized. We do not administer health insurance benefits, and we are unable to deduct premiums from advance payments.
We understand the impact this unanticipated delay in receiving your final benefit will have on you. Please be assured that we are using all available resources to finalize your benefit.
