Keep Your Address Up-To-Date
Whether you receive your monthly benefit by mail or direct deposit, it is important to notify us if you change your address. You can either call 1-866-805-0990 toll-free (518-474-7736 in the Albany, New York area), or mail the change to New York State and Local Retirement System, Pensioner Services, 6th floor, 110 State Street, Albany, NY 12244-0001. We do not accept address changes made via email.
Health Insurance Info
The Retirement System doesn’t administer health insurance benefits. If you are retired from a New York State agency and need information about health insurance, you should call the New York State Department of Civil Service at 1-800-833-4344 or 518-457-5754 in the Albany, New York area. If you previously worked for a local government employer, check with that employer.
Sign Up for Direct Deposit
If you don’t receive your benefit payment by direct deposit, consider doing so. It’s faster and more secure than mail, and prevents delivery delays in the event of a natural disaster, such as Hurricane Sandy. To enroll, submit a Direct Deposit Enrollment Application (RS6370) . Your payment will be deposited into your account on the last business day of each month and, in most instances, is available immediately.
Pension Payment Update for Recent Retirees
While we calculate your retirement benefit, you may receive advance payments. You can expect to receive four to five advance payments before your pension is finalized. Once we finalize your benefit, you will receive the full balance due, retroactive to your date of retirement.
If health insurance premiums will be deducted from your regular pension payments, please contact your health insurance provider to arrange payment until your benefit has been finalized. We do not administer health insurance benefits, and we are unable to deduct premiums from advance payments.
We appreciate your patience while we finalize your benefit.
