Date Issued
November 23, 1999

Purpose

To explain replacement of Names Panel, OSC conversion of employees' names and name processing

Affected Employees

All Employees

Effective Date

December 1, 1999

Background

The Names panel has been replaced by the Name History panel. The Name History panel displays the Employee's Name, Emplid and the Effective Date.

The path to the Name History panel is:

  • Administer Workforce
  • Administer Workforce (U.S.)
  • Use
  • Name History

This "display only" panel is updated immediately when an employee's name is changed. Users who had access to the Names panel have access to the Name History panel.

OSC Conversion of Names

OSC has automatically converted the employee name(s) from the Names panel to the Name History panel. The Effective Date used for names converted from the Names panel is 01011900.

OSC then inserted a row on the Name History panel using the employee's name from Personal Data 1 panel. The Effective Date used for names converted from the Personal Data 1 panel is the earliest Effective Date on the employee's Job Data panel.

System Processing

Agencies will no longer need to record prior names. The History Name panel will automatically be updated with a new row whenever there is a change to an employee's name on the Personal Data 1 panel or when an employee is hired. The effective date will be the date the employee was hired or the date the name change occurred.
