Purpose of Audit

The purpose of our audit was to examine the District’s procurement practices for the period January 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016.

Background

The Centereach Fire District is a district corporation of the State, distinct and separate from the Town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County. The District provides fire protection and emergency rescue services to approximately 31,500 residents and is governed by an elected five-member Board of Fire Commissioners. The 2016 general fund budget appropriations totaled $4.6 million.

• District officials used competitive methods when procuring goods and services, in accordance with the District’s purchasing policy and applicable laws.
