These fiscal stress scores are based on end-of-year results, and thus provide a measurement of local governments’ and school districts' ability to respond to the financial impact of the ongoing public health crisis. OSC continues to work to provide targeted training and guidance for local governments and school districts. See the Financial Toolkit for more information.
The April 2022 release reflects fiscal stress scores for non-calendar year local governments, which are based on data reported to OSC on the Annual Financial Reports (for the fiscal years ending 2021) as of 2/28/2022. However, the environmental stress scores are based, in part, on US Census Bureau data published 3/17/2022.
