Purpose of Audit

The purpose of our audit was to examine the District’s claims auditing process for the period July 1, 2014 through August 31, 2015.

Background

The East Greenbush Central School District is located in the Towns of East Greenbush, Nassau, North Greenbush, Sand Lake and Schodack in Rensselaer County and the Town of Chatham in Columbia County. The District, which operates seven schools with approximately 4,050 students, is governed by an elected nine-member Board of Education. Budgeted appropriations for the 2015-16 fiscal year total approximately $88 million.

Key Finding

• District officials established effective procedures that ensure that claims are adequately documented and supported, for legitimate District purposes and approved prior to payment.
