Purpose of Audit

The purpose of our audit was to examine the Court’s operations over the collection, recording and reporting of receipts for the period January 1, 2015 through April 30, 2016.

Background

The Town of Glenville is located in Schenectady County. The Town, which has approximately 30,000 residents, is governed by an elected five-member Town Board. The Town has two elected Justices who oversee Court operations and each Justice has a full-time clerk. The Justices’ total combined collections in 2015 totaled approximately $390,600 for fines, fees and surcharges and $48,000 for bail.

  • Court collections were accurately accounted for and deposited into the Justices' bank accounts.
