Messaging for Retirees

It’s important that you let us know if you change your mailing address. It’s especially crucial if you receive your monthly pension benefit by mail. If you are enrolled in our Direct Deposit program, keeping your address current ensures you’ll receive the tax information, annual statement and newsletters we mail to you.

Please Note: The United States Postal Service will only forward your benefit check and other correspondence to a new address for a limited time (assuming you have filed a Change of Address Order with them).

You can change your address online or contact us by telephone, mail or fax. If your new address is a PO box or is located outside of the United States, you cannot change your address by phone.

If you’re not already enrolled in our Direct Deposit program, consider doing so. It’s easy, quick and safe. In most instances, your money is immediately available, and you will not have to rely on the Postal Service to deliver your check or wait in long lines at the bank to cash it.

Retirement Online

Retirement Online is the convenient and secure way to update your address with NYSLRS. Sign Up or Sign In, then click on the “update” link next to your address on your Account Homepage.

Review your benefits and conduct transactions in real time with Retirement Online.

If you call us, we’ll ask you questions to confirm your identity before we change your address in our records.

Your correspondence must include your name, old and new address, retirement number or last four digits of your Social Security number, and signature.
