Change in the Federal Tax Data 2 Panel for Earned Income Tax Credit for 2002

Purpose

To explain the added selection on the Federal Tax Data 2 panel for the new Earned Income Tax Credit filing status of "Married Without Spouse Filing Certificate".

Affected Employees

All employees eligible for the Earned Income Credit.

Effective Date

Administration checks dated 5/22/02, Institution checks dated 5/15/02.

Advance Payment of Earned Income Credit

In 2002, employees whose earned income is less than $30,201 for the new filing status, may be eligible for the advance payment of the Earned Income Credit (EIC), with a maximum credit of $1,503. The new 2002 tables for calculating the credits are in Circular E, Employer's Tax Guide. All employees will have a new radio button added to the Federal Tax Data 2 panel of "Married Without Spouse Filing".
