- If you file your claim online, you'll receive a check in two weeks or less.
- If you file your claim by mail, you'll receive a letter from us within 30 days. You can expect your check usually within an additional four to six weeks. Claims involving estates or other complicated matters may take longer.
In both cases, we'll contact you if we need more information. Also, there's no time limit on how long you have to submit a claim.
The Comptroller’s Office never charges a fee for returning unclaimed funds. However, Location Service Providers may contact you, and they do charge a fee. The maximum fee they can charge you for helping you recover your money is 15 percent.
