NYSLRS brings together two systems: the Employees’ Retirement System (ERS) and the Police and Fire Retirement System (PFRS). Your system, your tier and the plan your employer selects determine your specific benefits. Below, you’ll find booklets detailing each plan, guides covering key retirement topics and resources for employers. You can read these publications in your preferred language by using the Google Translate link at the top of the page.
ERS Retirement Plans
ERS covers more than 600,000 workers from State and local governments and affiliated employers. We’ve arranged the plan publications below by tier, with a separate section covering special plans for miscellaneous titles. If you don’t know your plan, sign in to Retirement Online and look under ‘My Account Summary.’ Most Tier 3, 4, 5 and 6 members, for example, will see “Benefit Plan: A15,” which indicates the Article 15 retirement plan. You can also ask your employer or contact us for help finding your plan book.
