NYSLRS IDs

Voluntary Credits and Deductions Program Guide

What is a NYSLRS ID?

The NYSLRS ID is a unique identifier assigned to each member and retiree of the New York State and Local Retirement System. This identifier starts with the letter ‘R’ and is followed by eight digits (i.e. R12345678).

How can I obtain a retiree’s NYSLRS ID?

It is the retiree’s responsibility to provide your organization with this number. NYSLRS will not provide this information. When making authorization arrangements with the retiree, they should provide you with their NYSLRS ID at that time.

How can a retiree access their NYSLRS ID?

A retiree can access their NYSLRS ID by:

  • Logging in to Retirement Online;
  • Locating the ID on any correspondence from NYSLRS;
  • Locating the ID on their previous Member Annual Statement;
  • Locating the ID on their Membership Registration Card (though not all retirees may have access to this); or
  • Calling the NYSLRS Contact Center at 866-805-0990 (toll-free).
